Big news: our monthly giving community, previously known as Project Beautiful, is now called Intercept Partners.
It’s the same mission, just an updated name.
Why the name change?
Project Beautiful was named for the value of every life we intercept—that every life is beautiful and worth fighting for. This is still true, but we wanted a name that better represented the support system fueling that work.
“What’s new is the clarity—the alignment between what you give and what it does. As we’ve grown, we’ve realized something really important: the name of this community should reflect the impact that you’re having every month,” said Hannah Munn, Intercept Partners Lead.
What does it mean to be an Intercept Partner?
There are an estimated 50 million people trapped in slavery around the world today. Most of the world’s anti-trafficking strategies are either preventive (awareness and research) or reactive (rescue and law enforcement). Both are important and needed, but neither are enough on their own. To bring such a large-scale injustice to an end, we believe the most critical strategy is one that sits in between.
Transit monitoring works to prevent human trafficking as it is occurring but before the point of exploitation. Trafficking most often begins with deception, with traffickers luring their victims through false promises of jobs, marriage, and other opportunities too good to be true. They prey on vulnerabilities, targeting people in need who are more willing to take the risk.
Rescue is not enough. If your child was trafficked, would you sleep well knowing they might be rescued one day? Is there anything you wouldn’t do to stop it from ever happening to them in the first place?
When our teams effectively stop a potential victim from continuing their journey into exploitation and instead help them get home safely, we call that an “intercept.” And that’s where the name Intercept Partners comes in. This is the work you partner in when you choose to give monthly.
Our teams have helped protect over 100,000 people from entering a life of slavery, and there are more countries and stations we dream of opening this year. Our impact has been steadily growing over the past several years, and we are searching for more partners to back that growth.
It costs us just $112 to stop one life from being trafficked.
