OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST 

Position Type: Primarily we are looking for someone in a part-time advisor role, which would not necessarily need to be based overseas. However, we would also love to have a full-time person based overseas. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, this person could be support-raised or salaried.  

Reports to: President/Director of Research

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duty of the Operations Research Analyst is to bring scientific and statistical methodologies to bear on the evaluation and execution of key program strategies, including:

  • Finding ways to objectively measure the positive outcomes in children in our homes against the wider population.
  • Helping us maximize the effective and intelligent use of statistical tools in analyzing our anti-trafficking data and migration survey data in order to help us more effectively prevent human trafficking and lead people toward safe and prosperous foreign employment.
  • Using scientific and mathematical tools to optimize decision-making and policy formulation in all areas of our work.

Qualifications: Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of assessing complex issues and finding systematic solutions

  • Ability to multi-task and manage various projects simultaneously

  • A master's degree or higher (doctoral degree preferred) in data science, research methods, statistics in the social sciences, or a related field 

Work Environment and Requirements: Ideally this position will be based overseas. All candidates should be willing to travel 3-4 months per year (spread over multiple smaller trips).

DIRECTOR OF RECRUITMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCES

Position Type: Full Time, Salaried

Reports to: VP of Business Operations

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties of this person involve developing and implementing the tools necessary to find and select the best possible candidates in all areas of our operations, including:

  • Developing and continually improving assessments used to select candidates in multiple position types (monitors, program staff, children's home parents, etc.) in different fields. We currently have staff in nine countries, each of which require different assessment variations.
  • Facilitating the process of interviewing and hiring LJI staff.
  • Helping our national fields adapt and implement key Human Resource processes and tools.
  • Recruiting high-capacity, faithful leaders (both staff and board members / "champions") in new countries. 

Qualifications: Candidates should have the following qualifications.

OPEN SOURCE RESEARCH COORDINATOR

Ministry Area: Research and Management

Reports to: Director of Research and Strategy

Position Type: Part time, self-supported

Core Function: Oversees the collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of open-source data and analysis on human trafficking in Nepal and other locations.

Program Description: Our Open Source Research program is designed to provide strategic information about human trafficking trends and actionable intelligence about suspected traffickers to key stakeholders in the field. Names and identifying features of suspects collected through online sources, such as news articles, are passed to our investigators and added to a “fusion center” database. Our transit monitoring staff use this database to search the names of suspects they encounter during interceptions.

The program also contributes to barring traffickers from the international banking system. We pass on the names of suspects to a partner organization that adds them to a database used by more than 7,000 financial institutions to screen clients.

Reports on domestic and transnational human trafficking trends in countries where we work can also help to inform our policies and best practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of OSRC:

  • Establish and maintain a system for capturing all English-language news articles on human trafficking related to Nepal and other locations where Love Justice works.
  • Organize and store information from articles in Google Docs and Sheets.
  • Identify other open-source data on human trafficking and related threats that can be of value in understanding trafficking patterns and trends or provide actionable investigatory leads.
  • Complete reports that provide actionable and strategic analysis on human trafficking and related subjects.
  • Stay up-to-date on technological developments and innovations that can assist with the completion of this work, and identify ways to streamline the process and improve efficiency.
  • Complete various other research projects and compilations of statistical data as needed.                 

Work Environment and Requirements: This person works remotely and is not required to report to an office.

Overseas-Based Employment Opportunities

INDIA TRANSIT MONITORING DIRECTOR

Position Type: Full Time, Salaried

Reports to: VP of South Asian Transit Monitoring

Overview of Love Justice International and Our Anti-Trafficking Strategy: Love Justice International (LJI), formerly Tiny Hands International, is a Christian anti-trafficking NGO that has worked in Nepal for the past ten years, and in the past few years, has expanded to Bangladesh, India, and South Africa. We use a counter-trafficking strategy called transit monitoring, where our trained staff monitors transit areas (borders, bus stations, and airports) to identify potential trafficking victims and assist them with repatriation and procuring aftercare. In interviewing the victims, we collect intelligence to assist local police with criminal investigations and arrests of the perpetrators. We also follow up with each legal case filed to ensure speedy and fair prosecutions.

Through this strategy, we are able to stop trafficking before victims reach the destination where they are exploited, and we are able to collect intelligence to go after criminal networks. We partner with local churches in all our work. We have intercepted and assisted over 12,000 individuals who were being trafficked or at high-risk of being trafficked, and we have helped convict over 60 traffickers in the last four years. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duty of the India TMD is to facilitate the growth and expansion of transit monitoring throughout India through partnerships with like-minded and faithful partner organizations that are legally qualified to operate in India.

Qualifications: The candidate should be a mature Christian and an Indian national who is passionate about justice. Ideal candidates are nationals who have had some education or work-related experience overseas. Additional qualifications include:

  • Humility, gentleness, and wisdom 
  • Established connections in private/public sectors
  • Specific knowledge in a relevant field (human trafficking, finances, management, or other)
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • At least 10 years of experience living and working in the relevant country (including language)

FIELD LIAISONS

Love Justice is seeking to establish transit monitoring pilots in the following locations:

  • Cambodia (Siem Reap)
  • Kenya
  • Anchorage, Alaska
  • India (Kolkatta or New Delhi)
  • Bangladesh

In addition to these places, we would consider other locations where transit monitoring is needed if we found the right person.  

To help accomplish this, we plan to hire a Field Liaison to help establish transit monitoring in each of these places.

Reports To: The Field Liaison will report to the relevant regional director.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities: The following will be the primary duties of this position:

  • Learn how transit monitoring works in order to be able to sufficiently explain, implement, and help adapt this model to a new culture and national situation. (This will require spending some time in Nepal.)
  • Help LJI find the right national champion and project manager, and work with them to determine how transit monitoring can be done safely, legally, culturally appropriately, and effectively.
  • Assist the national partner in many ways, including the implementation of the processes required for this project to be effective.
  • Communicate regularly with LJI staff on the progress of the project.

Work Environment & Requirements: This person will need to spend several weeks in Nepal to learn about transit monitoring and other processes used by Love Justice, before moving to the relevant place. He/she must be willing to commit to at least two years in the field.

PROGRAMMER ANALYST

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of this person will be to analyze the business needs and then determine the best technology solutions for them as well as architect, design, and develop a database and software solution to analyze data from our border monitoring stations. This person will also provide support to all systems and devices related to the organization and border monitoring stations.

Work Environment and Requirements: This person will work overseas and will travel to our border monitoring and transit monitoring stations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This candidate will need to be able to help the organization analyze operational needs and gather operational and functional requirements in order to determine and recommend the best and most effective technologies to meet the growing needs of the organization. Therefore, it is important that this person be experienced in both system and operational analysis, skilled in the communication of technology solutions and concepts, skilled in system architecture and software design, experienced in database administration and database design, and proficient in programming skills to develop software solutions. It is expected that this person will be able to set up and administer database, web, and application servers as well as be able to provide basic technical support and troubleshooting for the computers within the organization.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 2+ years professional experience in software development
  • Computer science fundamentals in object-oriented design
  • Computer science fundamentals in data structures
  • Computer science fundamentals in algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as VB.NET, ASP.NET, C++, Java or C# (.NET)

Requirements and Commitments for Overseas Staff

Time Commitment: All candidates must be willing to make a minimum of a two-year commitment to work for the ministry. (An evaluation will be held after three months to assess fit and performance.) In addition, all candidates are encouraged to conduct a 1-2 week investigative trip to the location of work prior to committing to working overseas for Love Justice International.

Christian Living: All candidates must be willing to commit to a Christian lifestyle, regarding purity of life, as well as engagement in regular fellowship and devotion.

Self-Support and Fundraising: All candidates must be willing to raise support for their own living expenses. Each staff will maintain a "support account," out of which his/her salary will be paid, and extra money will be used to help support Love Justice projects. All positions require that a minimum of 90% of personal support be raised before going into the field.

Professionalism: Although this is ministry, we expect to maintain a level of professionalism equal to or higher than that in the business world. This includes regular and consistent working hours (40 hrs./week), faithful attendance of required meetings, compliance with the directives and policies of leaders, and fulfillment of commitments. You will be asked to give of your time and freedom at a level that accord with the importance of our work.
