Reports to: Director of Research and Strategy

Position Type: Part time; self-supported

Core Function: Oversee the collection, processing, storage, and dissemination of open-source data and analysis on human trafficking in Nepal and other locations.

Program Description: Our Open Source Research program is designed to provide strategic information about human trafficking trends and actionable intelligence about suspected traffickers to key stakeholders in the field. Names and identifying features of suspects collected through online sources, such as news articles, are passed to our investigators and added to a “fusion center” database. Our transit monitoring staff use this database to search the names of suspects they encounter during interceptions.

The program also contributes to barring traffickers from the international banking system. We pass on the names of suspects to a partner organization that adds them to a database used by more than 7,000 financial institutions to screen clients.

Reports on domestic and transnational human trafficking trends in countries where we work can also help to inform our policies and best practices.

  • Establish and maintain a system for capturing all English-language news articles on human trafficking related to Nepal and other locations where Love Justice works.
  • Organize and store information from articles in Google Docs and Sheets.

  • Complete reports that provide actionable and strategic analysis on human trafficking and related subjects.
  • Stay up-to-date on technological developments and innovations that can assist with the completion of this work, and identify ways to streamline the process and improve efficiency.
  • Complete various other research projects and compilations of statistical data as needed.

Work Environment and Requirements: Works remotely, not required to report to an office.

Characteristics: Passion for the work of Love Justice, mentality of servant leadership, humble, strong critical-thinking skills, detail-oriented, well-organized, self-motivated, honest, patient, creative, and flexible.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of assessing complex issues and finding systematic solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage various projects simultaneously.
