This Month's Prayer Points and Updates
- Gospel Seeds Take Root in Benin and Guinea: It was a fruitful week, with three potential victims responding to the gospel in Benin and two more in Guinea. The Benin team also provided authorities with evidence that led to a suspect being arrested and awaiting trial. These seeds have taken root; may they keep growing!
- Perseverance Through Rain Brings Breakthrough in Senegal: Despite strong seasonal rains making travel and monitoring much harder than usual, our Dakar and Bignona teams kept showing up—and that perseverance paid off with three arrests. Both teams continue working in difficult conditions and need continued protection and sharp discernment as they press on to reach vulnerable people.
- A Door Opens for Vulnerable Children in South America: Over the past few weeks, one of our South American teams identified foreign children in situations of forced begging and serious neglect, left to fend for themselves on the streets for days at a time. Local police and child-protection authorities initially refused to intervene, saying it wasn’t their place because the children were foreigners. After weeks of documentation and persistent advocacy, that persistence has opened a door; the government is now seeking intervention through the juvenile court. Praise God for this breakthrough! Pray for the safety of these children, for wisdom and courage for the team, and for the authorities and community leaders now involved to work well together.
- Flooding Affects Monitoring Route in Nepal: Flooding has damaged the monitoring route near one of our stations close to the India border. Please pray that repairs move quickly so the team’s border monitoring work isn’t affected, and continue to pray for all those whose livelihoods have been affected by the floods in Nepal.
- Open Doors in Colombia, More Permits Needed: The Colombia team continues working with local authorities to secure authorization to monitor at a bus terminal in a high-risk town, where a change in administration has required new processes and permits. Good progress is being made and we are hopeful permits will be granted quickly. The team has also had open doors to monitor in another city, which is an answer to prayer. They have also been engaging with vulnerable people recruited by Russia to fight in the war.
- Police Non-Cooperation Delays Trafficking Case in Nepal: A minor was intercepted with clear evidence of trafficking, yet police would not allow our team to file a legal case. The team is now working to file from the victim’s hometown. Please pray for the successful filing of this case and all parties involved: the victim, her family, the police, and our team. Victims often face intimidation to prevent cases from going to court.
- Trafficking Operation Disrupted in Bignona, Senegal: Our Bignona team’s monitoring and cooperation with local authorities helped bring down a trafficking operation exploiting vulnerable young women, leading to three arrests and 12 potential victims now safe. The case was significant enough to make local news. The Sierra Leone Project Manager also helped via video call to interpret between English and Creole for the Sierra Leonean potential victims, which was then translated into French by the Senegal Project Manager for local authorities. Praise God for cross-team collaboration, the team’s faithfulness, and justice moving forward!
