We are committed to protecting your privacy.
Love Justice International (“LJI”) understands that you care how information about you is used, and we appreciate you trusting that we will do so carefully and sensibly. We honor that trust by keeping it safe and secure. We will never sell your information to anyone. We do share your information with trusted partners who help us get our message to you.
We reserve the right to change this Policy at any time by posting a revised policy on the Site and indicating the date it was last updated. Your use of the Online Services following the posting of such changes will constitute your acceptance of the changes. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to make sure that you understand its terms.
What Information Do We Collect?
We collect personal information when you voluntarily submit it to us.
“Personal information” means information that specifically identifies an individual (such as name, address, telephone number, email address, credit card or other financial information, or other account number). It also includes demographic information, such as date of birth, gender, geographic area, and religious affiliation, when such information is linked to other personal information that identifies you.
Personal information does not include “aggregate” information, which is data we collect about the use of our Online Services or about a group of products, services, or users, from which personal identifying information has been removed. Personal information also does not include demographic information that is not linked to any personally identifying information.
How and Why Do We Collect Personal Information?
We may collect personal information when you use our Online Services in the following ways:
- You register for the Site or sign up for our newsletter;
- You make an online donation;
- You participate in interactive areas of Online Services;
- You apply for an employment or volunteer opportunity.
We collect personal information primarily to accept donations, complete our charitable projects, and provide you with information about our programs. We may also use the information:
- to send you a welcoming email or other correspondence;
- to recognize the generosity of those donors who have not requested anonymity;
- to respond to requests for information or merchandise;
- to comply with federal and state tax regulations, to conduct audits, and to maintain accreditations relating to our charitable and faith-based missions.
When you visit our Site, some information is also automatically collected through the use of request logging, such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, your computer’s operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring website, and your activity on the Site. We use this information for purposes such as analyzing trends, managing the Site, improving our Online Services, diagnosing problems with our servers, tracking use of the Site, and gathering aggregate demographic information.
Personal information provided online may be linked or merged with other personal information, including personal information we receive from you offline through third parties or other offline sources. Examples of third parties include other charitable or faith-based organizations or businesses that provide us with services.
Cookies and How We Use Them
We may also automatically collect information through the use of “cookies,” which are small data files stored on a user’s hard drive at the request of a website to enable the site to recognize users who have previously visited them and retain certain information, such as customer preferences and history. If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser’s instructions to learn about these functions. However, if your browser is set to not accept cookies or if a user rejects a cookie, you may not be able to use or access certain Site features or services.
In addition to cookies, we use single pixel gifs, also called web beacons, in our emails. Web beacons track behavior, such as who has opened an email and when, the IP address, the browser or email type, which links were clicked, and other similar information. This allows us to measure the performance of email campaigns, see what actions subscribers took, create reports about email performance, and improve the quality of our emails.
Sharing Information with Third Parties
To facilitate the operation of our Online Services and our organization, we may share some personal information with our agents, volunteers or clients, affiliated religious or non-profit organizations, and governmental or accreditation agencies who need access to such information to carry out their work. Examples include:
- our marketing agents may be given names and addresses to send mailings;
- our volunteers or clients may be given names and phone numbers to thank donors personally;
- affiliated nonprofits with a common mission may be given limited contact information for our volunteers;
- government or accreditation agencies may be given information regarding donations, including the identity or demographic information of donors.
We may disclose personal information in the good faith belief that we are lawfully authorized or required to do so, or that doing so is reasonably necessary or appropriate to comply with the law or with legal processes or authorities, respond to any claims, or to protect the rights, property or safety of LJI, our users, guests and clients, our employees or the public.
Our Online Services may contain links to other websites. Please be aware that although we may participate in or utilize such sites, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.
How Do We Protect Your Personal Information?
We endeavor to secure your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure by putting into place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect through our Online Services. Please be aware, however, that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable.
You should note that email is not secure, and you should not send any confidential or sensitive information to us via an unsecured email. To protect the confidentiality of your personal information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of the Online Services by any person using your password. Please email us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org if you believe your password has been misused.
