Episode 12: A Former Trafficker Helps Prevent Human Trafficking
Peter, now a monitor with Love Justice Uganda, shares about his past as a trafficker and how he now uses that experience to identify traffickers and stop them.
“I was praying to God to give me a proper job because I nearly ended in prison. … I kept praying for weeks. I asked God if there is any way He can give me a job rather than a job that is so illegal that it may make me lose my life. … And I [vowed] not to do trafficking again because I know the repercussions and I know what I went through. So here I am today.” —Peter

Episode 11: Jesus and Justice
with guest Kristi McLelland
In this episode, professor, author, and founder of New Lens Biblical Studies—Kristi McLelland—talks about the intersection of faith, biblical teachings, and the fight against human trafficking.
“Justice isn’t an option for the Christian—it’s not ‘Will I be involved in the work of God’s justice in the world?’ The question is just simply, ‘How?’ … We think, ‘Oh man, Jesus saved me. That was the work.’ It’s like no, Jesus saved you to send you out. … The saving is not the end of the journey; the saving puts you on the path. Now the invitation is to walk the path. And according to the Psalms, that path is a path of justice and righteousness.” —McLelland
Episode 14: From Passion to Action
with guest Janell Midkiff
Janell Midkiff, a Love Justice volunteer, shares about her deeply personal motivation to fight human trafficking.
“In 2006, my best friend went to a nightclub one night, and she actually never came home. We don’t really have any more knowledge of what happened that night now than what we did back then. … As I got closer to applying for this position with you guys, that was when it was really nagging at me—like, I’m here to do more.” —Midkiff
Episode 16: With Guest Joel Smallbone of For KING + COUNTRY
In this episode, Joel Smallbone opens up about his journey to becoming an advocate for women’s rights through film and music.
“About eight or nine years ago now, we were backstage and we started singing these melodies, and it was certainly a song about a woman’s worth. … There has to be laws and rigid laws around this subject, but it’s up to the poets and creatives to work to change the hearts. … There’s nothing like putting this stuff on paper that holds you to your own account as a creative. There’s nothing like singing—and standing up four or five times a week—this song that holds you to your own fire and checks your own heart in it.” —Smallbone
Episode 10: The Short Walk Between Freedom and Slavery
with guests Libby Swenson and SJ
Executive Director of Freedom 58 and former LJI staff member, Libby Swenson, and LJI Regional Steward of Asia, SJ, talk in this episode about the urgency of protecting potential victims in high-risk areas for trafficking.
“We've seen that transit locations are not too far from red-light districts. … Many children said that they were trafficked from this particular point, which was a railway station. And I wanted to walk that path and see exactly how long does it take for someone to lose their freedom and spend a life of slavery. And it actually took less than seven minutes. … And it's so important for people who are involved in preventing people from getting trafficked to position themselves in this top corridor.” —SJ
