Almost 100,000 Interceptions: What This Number Represents

Almost 100,000 Interceptions: What This Number Represents

“I was selling potatoes at the market when he told me about a job in town.”

Isaac* was just 15 years old when a man named Maliko* approached him at a market in rural Malawi. Maliko promised him steady work in the city at a shop job that paid more than he’d ever earned. For a boy trying to support his grandmother, it felt like hope.

Without telling his family, Isaac accepted. Maliko even sent money for transport and told him to find his shop when he arrived. Isaac left for the city with no phone, no ID, and no address for the supposed job.

On the way, Isaac met our Love Justice team.

Monitors noticed him traveling alone and began asking questions. As Isaac shared his story, it became clear that Maliko had deceived him. Our monitors counseled Isaac about the dangers of human trafficking and shared the message of the gospel, explaining how traffickers often “prey on hope”—that what looks like a promise can quickly become a trap. Grateful for the intervention, Isaac agreed to return home safely.

From one life to 100,000

Isaac’s story is just one example of what can happen when someone steps in at the right moment. A vigilant monitor, a few simple questions, mere seconds of critical time—and his future was changed forever.

Now, multiply that kind of impact by 100,000.

That’s where we stand today. Love Justice is on the brink of a historic milestone: Nearly 100,000 people intercepted before exploitation could begin.

While we celebrate that number and the enormous amount of work, heart, and prayer that has gone into it, we don’t want to lose sight of what that record really means.

Each of those interceptions represents a life spared from the horrors of trafficking, a family kept whole, a community made stronger. Nearly 100,000 times, truth has defeated deception. Nearly 100,000 times, hope has won.

At bus stations, border crossings, bustling city terminals—one courageous act at a time—Love Justice monitors are rewriting stories before slavery can take hold.

The long-term impact of 100,000 interceptions

Human trafficking can be stopped before it starts. The trauma that trafficking victims endure can be avoided altogether. The data speaks for itself.

In regions where Love Justice operates, the prevalence of modern slavery is going down. Families are staying together. Communities are becoming more vigilant. Local authorities are responding faster. And the message to traffickers is clear: your lies will not go unchallenged.

Every interception denies traffickers a “product” to sell, gathers intelligence that helps expose criminal networks, and spreads awareness that makes entire communities harder to target. Every interception increases the risk, cost, and difficulty of trafficking in the very places it once thrived.

This steady, determined pressure is changing the trajectory of human trafficking for future generations.

The work isn’t finished

There is still so much more to do. For every person like Isaac who is intercepted before harm, there are others still walking toward danger, believing a promise that isn’t real.

That’s why we are not slowing down.

As we approach this milestone, our mission is expanding—to place more monitors in more locations, to strengthen investigations that lead to arrests, and to partner with local churches and communities to stop trafficking at its source.

We’re standing at a historic moment—almost 100,000 interceptions behind us, and hundreds of thousands more ahead. The downfall of slavery doesn’t happen all at once; it happens through consistent, faithful action—one life at a time.
